Nico + Kelsey - Spirit Sands Engagement Session
When I look at these photographs of of Nico and Kelsey, I don’t remember my hesitation driving east towards our manitoba desert lands. How I squinted at the sky that was steadily cycling through grey and bursts of sun and the occasional downpour . How the wind rocked the car back and forth. I remember how the sand swirled around us as we hiked into the desert, and how it was cold and windy, but how Kelsey and Nico made me feel warm and light, My favourite types of sessions are the ones where i forget I’m shooting, and how the camera doesn’t put distance between me and a subject but invites a new sort of connection. There is a magic in capturing connection, the love between two people, and the connection of people to a landscape. Nico and Kelsey danced, kissed, ran and snuggled, flipped and laughed, all framed in by the soft golden hues, lush greens and cool blues of this otherworldly place. These two- met as university study buddies, fell in love and are now both nurses. What an honour to capture their love and acroyoga and share a mutual love for being in nature ( even in all that wild wind. I’m already looking forward to their June Wedding.
